Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to respond in an ambulance to emergencies and interfacility transports, providing immediate basic life support and transport to hospital.

The role requires Indiana EMT certification or national cert with ability to obtain Indiana within 30 days, BLS certification, driver’s license, and may demand ALS certs based on unit policies. You will work within a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service.

Qualifications

• Indiana Certification as an EMT issued by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security required, or must be nationally certified and able to obtain the Indiana EMT Certification within 30 days of start of employment.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Requires Indiana State driver's license.

• Responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, nonemergencies and interhospital transports.
• Provides efficient and immediate basic life support care to the patient at the scene and enroute to and in the hospital.
• Performs non-invasive procedures and basic life support functions such as CPR, AED, and bone splinting.
• Performs specialized life-sustaining procedures in a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service.
• Responsible for providing immediate emergency care and transport of the critically ill or injured.
