Job summary

Crossroads YMCA in Hammond, IN is seeking Lifeguards to maintain a safe swimming environment in the pool and on the deck. You will monitor the area, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies under YMCA policies.

Requirements include current First Aid, BLS, and Oxygen Administration certifications; must be at least 16, preferably 18 with a high school degree. The role offers a free Y membership and discounted programs, and supports a welcoming, inclusive community.

Qualifications

• Current nationally recognized certifications including First Aid, BLS and Oxygen Administration.
• Must be able to relate and communicate effectively with a diverse community.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area, deck and surrounding areas.
• Enforces pool rules and policies, completes safety checks as required.
• Responds immediately to emergencies in accordance with YMCA procedures.
• Keeps accurate records and reports as required by YMCA and health codes.
