Job summary

YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure a safe pool environment and respond to emergencies in accordance with YMCA and American Heart Association guidelines.

Applicants must be at least 16, hold a current lifeguard certificate (YMCA ARC or Ellis & Associates) with First Aid/CPR Healthcare Provider, and pass the 500-yard swim test. Strong communication with diverse participants is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must pass basic lifeguard skills test including swimming 500 yards.
• Must relate to and communicate with people of all ages, cultures, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe environment for participants in and around the pool.
• Respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid per guidelines.
• Maintain current lifeguard certifications and stay alert to safety.
• Work under the direction of the Aquatic Coordinator/Program Specialist and Head Guard.
