Job summary

The Greater Joliet Area YMCA in Morris, IL is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions and create a positive, engaging atmosphere for members.

You will monitor the pool, respond to emergencies per YMCA procedures, complete required reports, and support a welcoming environment for swimmers of all ages. Benefits include a free Y membership and program discounts.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years old.
• Certifications CPR-Pro / AED / First Aid / Lifeguarding provided by YMCA.
• Ability to maintain certification readiness.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
• Responds to emergencies immediately per YMCA policies and completes reports.
• Maintains positive relationships with members and staff.
• Adheres to pool safety rules and keeps required records.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures available safety gear.
• Performs routine chemical testing when not guarding.
• Attends staff meetings and in-service trainings.
