Job summary

City of San Antonio Lifeguards protect the safety and well-being of patrons at the 1430 W Ceasar Chavez Aquatic Facility. Work schedules vary with Lifeguard training, events, and programs; weekend shifts possible.

Duties include supervising swimmers, enforcing rules, and leading emergency procedures with CPR/First Aid as needed. Role may involve assisting in swimming programs, maintenance tasks, and water quality testing.

Qualifications

• Two years or more lifeguarding experience.
• Successful completion of Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Standard First Aid within 14 days of hire.
• Ability to read and write at a basic level.
• Knowledge of pool safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety of patrons.
• Enforces all rules and regulations consistently.
• Coordinates emergency procedures or provide first aid and CPR in emergency situations.
• Performs general maintenance/custodial functions as required.
• Vacuums pool, operates chlorine machines, and tests water chemistry (chlorine and pH).
• May perform Water Safety Instructor duties, including teaching swimming and water safety skills.
• Participates in continuous in-service skills training.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
