Job summary

City of Gardena seeks a dedicated Lifeguard/Swim Instructor for its public aquatics facilities. Under supervision, you will monitor patrons, enforce pool rules, perform water rescues, administer first aid, and teach swim lessons to groups and individuals of all ages.

The role requires a high school diploma, and 1 year Lifeguard/Swim Instructor experience is preferred; you must be 18+ and maintain CPR/AED and Lifeguarding certifications. Outdoor pool environment with trainings and events.

Qualifications

• 1 year Lifeguard/Swim Instructor experience preferred.
• Minimum age 18 years.

Responsibilities

• Provides aquatic safety and supervision for patrons; monitors activities to ensure safety.
• Acts as lifeguard and delivers courteous service during pool hours and events.
• Enforces Agency policies, rules, and procedures.
• Provides first responder medical assistance and CPR as needed.
• Provides swim instruction for groups and individuals of all ages.
• Responds to patron questions and information needs.
• Maintains cleanliness of facilities and performs basic custodial duties.
• Inspects and maintains pool equipment and reports issues.
• Keeps logs and incident/training records; attends trainings.
