The Town of Amherst is seeking a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor for the Amherst Recreation program. This 10-15 hour per week role focuses on enforcing pool safety, supervising swimmers, and leading swim instruction for both children and adults.
Qualified candidates are 15+ with current Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR for Professional Rescuers with AED, and First Aid. Background checks (CORI/SORI) are required.
AMHERST Lifeguard/Swim Instructor 10-15 hours per week The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor is responsible for enforcing pool rules and regulations to ensure the safety and supervision of all swimmers, participants, equipment, and the overall facility. They will be heavily involved with the general public, and will assist in many facets of overall pool operation. Amherst Recreation Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching various levels of swimming to children and adults. Swim Instructors are also responsible for the supervision of the participants in their designated learning groups. Instructors will be involved with interacting with the general public, and may be asked to assist in various facets of overall instruction program. Instructors will develop lesson plans and act as the lead teacher and/or assist with swim lessons as assigned by the Aquatics Program Coordinator. Lifeguards will have a current Red Cross Certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR for Professional Rescuers and AED and First Aid training.
