Job summary

The Town of Amherst is seeking a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor for the Amherst Recreation program. This 10-15 hour per week role focuses on enforcing pool safety, supervising swimmers, and leading swim instruction for both children and adults.

Qualified candidates are 15+ with current Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR for Professional Rescuers with AED, and First Aid. Background checks (CORI/SORI) are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold current Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED and First Aid.
• Candidates must be at least 15 years old and able to pass CORI/SORI background checks.

Responsibilities

• Teach and/or assist with swim lessons.
• Ensure safety by enforcing pool rules and supervising participants and equipment.
• Perform daily safety equipment checks and maintain order in pool areas.
• Assist with cleaning of pool area, locker rooms and surrounding areas.
• Provide courteous, professional public service and wear staff uniform.
• Support events, attend staff meetings and trainings; perform other duties as assigned.
