About The Position

The Lifeguard ensures the safety of facility members by preventing and responding to emergencies. This role reports to the Aquatics Manager and involves enforcing rules, monitoring the pool, responding to emergencies, maintaining the facility, and promoting aquatics programs.

Responsibilities

• Enforce pool rules and regulations.
• Monitor pool activity for safety concerns.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate responses.
• Wear required lifeguard equipment while on duty.
• Inspect the aquatic facility daily and report unsafe conditions.
• Communicate with members and log concerns.
• Maintain cleanliness of aquatic areas and restrooms.
• Conduct water chemistry tests.
• Keep records and reports up to date.
• Promote swim lessons and other programs.
• Teach swim lessons if certified.
• Participate in training sessions.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or 16+ years old.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification or equivalent.
• Ability to perform water rescues and First Aid effectively.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Availability to work extra hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical ability to perform rescue tasks and other physical duties.
• Preferred: Water Safety Instructor certification.
