Job summary

The St. James in Springfield, VA is seeking a Lifeguard Sergeant to lead one of the region’s top aquatic safety teams. You’ll mentor lifeguards, manage daily operations, and uphold high standards for staffing, equipment, facilities, and readiness.

You’ll partner with officers and coaches to deliver professional safety services at a premier sports and entertainment destination, shaping the future of the department and facility through leadership and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Two years as Lifeguard Supervisor or equivalent leadership position at a year-round aquatic facility.
• Four seasons of supervisory experience with a seasonal lifeguard organization.
• Demonstrated leadership and commitment to professional development.
• Current or obtainable within specified timelines lifeguarding and aquatic certifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and mentor lifeguards through coaching, training, and accountability.
• Lead daily aquatic operations and emergency response activities.
• Maintain high standards across staffing, equipment, facilities, and operational readiness.
