Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory at the Kroc Center in Grand Rapids is seeking Lifeguards to ensure the safety and well‑being of members and visitors, enforce pool rules, and maintain a welcoming, clean environment. You will respond to emergencies, perform CPR/First Aid, assist with swim lessons, keep records, and participate in in‑service trainings.

Training is provided if not yet certified, with potential to teach.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Proficiency in English required; Spanish is a plus.
• Willing to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Certifications required or training provided before starting.
• WSI certification or progress toward it within six months is preferred.
• Oxygen administration certification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Enforce pool rules to maintain a safe environment.
• Monitor swimmers and respond to emergencies with swift action.
• Administer First Aid, CPR, and rescue procedures as needed.
• Keep pool areas, locker rooms and restrooms clean and orderly.
• Maintain records and reports as required.
• Assist with swim lessons and aquatic programs.
• Attend in-service trainings to enhance skills.
• Communicate clearly with staff and guests to create a friendly environment.
