Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Lifeguard to monitor the pool, enforce safety rules, and provide a welcoming aquatic environment for members and guests. You will respond to emergencies, perform routine checks, and support programs and community members.

Applicants must hold current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications, plus Oxygen Administration or ability to obtain within 30 days. Flexible shifts and ongoing training support growth within the organization.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard certification required.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
• Oxygen Administration certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to successfully complete the Y in Central Maryland swim test.
• Ability to maintain required certifications and demonstrate rescue skills.
• Flexible availability, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor swimmers and pool area.
• Enforce pool rules and safety requirements.
• Respond to water-related emergencies quickly and appropriately.
• Conduct pool chemical checks and adjust as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe pool deck.
• Support aquatic programs and communicate with members and families.
• Model the Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
