Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is hiring Lifeguards to maintain a safe, welcoming aquatic environment for members and program participants. You will monitor the pool, respond to emergencies, enforce safety rules, and support daily care of the aquatic area.

Eligible staff may receive a sign-on bonus and retention rewards. The role requires current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications, plus Oxygen Administration or the ability to obtain it within 30 days, and flexible availability including

Qualifications

• Current and valid Lifeguard certification.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Oxygen Administration certification or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to successfully complete the Y in Central Maryland swim test.
• Ability to maintain required certifications and demonstrate rescue skills.
• Flexible availability including days, evenings, and weekends.
• Completion of required new-associate training, including Child Abuse Prevention, before first shift.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor swimmers and maintain surveillance of the pool area.
• Enforce pool rules and safety requirements.
• Respond quickly to water-related emergencies.
• Support the daily care and operation of the aquatic area.
• Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment during shifts.
