Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a Lifeguard in Granby, CT. Under the Aquatics Department, you will monitor pool safety, enforce rules, and assist with emergencies while upholding the YMCA mission and core values.

Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and sanitary pool area, keeping records, and staying current with required certifications. This non-exempt role requires punctuality and teamwork in a community-focused setting.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification (infant, child and adult), Oxygen Admin and First Aid certification.
• Maturity, responsibility, positive values and sincere interest in working with people.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of every individual in the pool area and facility.
• Enforce pool rules and maintain sanitary conditions.
• Keep accurate records as required by CT Health Department Sanitary Code.
• Attend staff meetings and learn emergency procedures.
• Be prepared to respond to emergencies and assist as needed.
• Maintain certifications and substitute coverage when needed.
