Job summary

City of Temple, TX is seeking a dedicated lifeguard to help keep our pools safe for everyone. The role involves supervising swimmers, inspecting equipment, and assisting with opening and closing procedures while delivering high-quality customer service.

You must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and complete the required safety tests. Prior lifeguard experience is preferred, and the city provides Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED training.

Qualifications

• Two years of High School completion.
• Pass pre-employment swimming skills test and basic water safety practices.
• Pass test on use of water safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pool area during guard rotations.
• Enforce pool rules and regulations.
• Provide first aid/CPR when needed and notify EMS.
• Assist with front desk operations and customer service.
• Receive and accept payments.
• Perform safety inspections and basic maintenance.
• Maintain pool area and chemical checks; clean as needed.
• Assist with programming aquatic events.
• Record daily attendance and financial operations using RecTrac.
• Attend in-service lifeguard training weekly.
• Arrive on time and manage shift trades.
• Follow city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
