Job summary

The City of Tampa is seeking lifeguards to oversee municipal swimming facilities, enforce safety rules, and assist with light pool maintenance as needed. Shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays to cover all operational hours.

Responsibilities include patrolling the pool area, responding to emergencies, administering first aid, and providing information to patrons. Must hold current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications and be at least 16 years old.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age and possess current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Possession of current nationally certified First Aid and Lifeguarding Certificates; CPR for the Professional Rescuer; Florida driver's license preferred.
• Ability to respond quickly and calmly to emergencies.
• Physical ability to perform lifeguard duties and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Patrols pool area and locker rooms, enforcing pool rules.
• Assist higher level aquatics leader at pool facilities.
• Perform pool maintenance such as brushing and vacuuming.
• Administer first aid and lifesaving procedures; respond to emergencies.
• Complete attendance, daily reports, accident reports, and special activity sheets as required.
• Provide information to patrons and handle phone inquiries.
