Job summary

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore is seeking a Lifeguard to monitor a busy pool, enforce safety rules, and provide excellent member service. This role requires ARC Lifeguarding, CPR/AED with First Aid, and local pool operator certifications.

Candidates should be able to work weekends and varied shifts, including mornings and evenings. Female-only swim time coverage is part of the schedule to meet community needs; prior lifeguarding experience is preferred and references may be

Qualifications

• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification required.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED and First Aid required.
• Baltimore County and Baltimore City Pool Operator certifications required (we assist with obtaining)
• Lifeguarding experience preferred (2 years) and references may be requested.
• Ability to work weekends and varied shifts 6am–10pm, including split shifts.
• Female candidate required to meet orthodox population needs for female-only swim times.

Responsibilities

• Guard during female-only swim times.
• Ensure safety of all swimmers and enforce pool rules.
• Conduct water quality testing and maintain pool conditions per Maryland codes.
• Maintain pool area cleanliness, including deck and rails.
• Provide professional member service and information to guests.
• Participate in in-service training and maintain physical readiness for emergencies.
• Assist Aquatics staff as needed.
