Lifeguard/Pool Operator - Part Time
Community College of Baltimore County is seeking a dedicated Lifeguard/Pool Operator to provide safe and enjoyable aquatic experiences for students, faculty, and the community. The role requires constant surveillance of pool areas, emergency response, routine inspection, and clear reporting of any unsafe conditions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain continuous pool surveillance and act immediately to secure patron safety in any emergency.
- Test and adjust water chemistry; interpret gauges, flow meters, and monitoring equipment.
- Maintain operational and recirculation efficiency of pool filters and systems.
- Monitor and log pool chemicals and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure proper chemical storage, usage, and handling to minimize hazards.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, providing first aid until emergency services arrive.
- Inspect pool equipment and report unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and professional appearance.
- Enforce all pool policies, rules, and regulations.
- Handle identification cards, health, and waiver forms securely.
- Prepare activity reports such as health surveys and sign‑in sheets.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a lifeguard.
- Certified Pool Operator.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid certification in Lifeguard, CPR & First Aid (American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, YMCA, or equivalent).
- Bloodborne Pathogen training (CCBC will provide).
