Job description

Do you have a passion to be a first responder? We are looking for Lifeguards to provide a safe environment while our Guests are enjoying our aquatic areas at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you would like to take on this challenge, apply today!

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $18.25 per hour for Shallow Water Lifeguards, and $19.25 per hour for Deep Water Lifeguards.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor Guests in aquatic/pool areas and provide constant surveillance of pool areas to ensure Guest safety.
  • Act as a first responder to emergency situations.
  • Perform lifesaving techniques, CPR, and first aid procedures in emergency situations.
  • Stand for long periods while monitoring the pool deck.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the pool deck by removing used towels, life jackets, and trash.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Full-time requires full availability every day, including weekends and holidays, with any shift including evenings.
  • Part-time requires full availability for any 3 days, any shift, including evenings.
  • Strong observational skills to proactively identify Guest needs and ensure safety guidelines are followed.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to positively engage with Guests, Cast Members, and leadership.
  • Pass a vision screening (at least 20/25 vision, corrected or uncorrected) and a hearing screening at hire to detect and respond to noises and distress signals.
  • Lifeguard training is provided and must be successfully completed.
  • Ability to lift Guests in and out of the pool up to 100 lbs. or more with assistance.
  • Pass the Shallow Water Swim Test: swim 50 yards, feet-first dive to retrieve a 10-pound brick from 5 feet depth. Physical role involving heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and kneeling.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Lifeguarding or Swimming Instructor experience.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

SCHEDULE AVAILABILITY: Our parks operate 24/7 year-round. Shifts may start as early as 5:00 am or end as late as 5:00 am. Scheduling is based on seniority.
