Job summary

Freeport Recreation Center is seeking a Part-Time Lifeguard to supervise water facilities, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies with prompt action. This role requires weekend and evening availability and involves first aid duties as needed.

The position pays $16.40 per hour starting, with progression to $17.40 after 2 years and $18.40 after 3 years, under supervision.

Qualifications

• Certification: Grade I A/B for Swimming Pool.
• Minimum age 16 and must be in satisfactory medical condition as attested to by a physician.
• Must have at least 20/70 vision in one eye, corrected to 20/40.

Responsibilities

• Observe activities of patrons using water facilities and maintain safety conditions.
• Participate in rescue operations and render first aid as needed; act promptly in emergencies.

Lifeguard Part Time

Must be able to work weekends and evenings.

Salary $16.40 per hour (starting - 1st year); $17.40 after 2 years; $18.40 after 3 years

• Grade II - Calm Water and Swimming Pool 1. Must be at least sixteen years of age prior to appointment. 2. Must be in satisfactory medical condition as attested to by a physician. 3. Must have at least 20/40 vision in one eye, without corrective lenses.
• Grade III - Ocean, Calm Water, and Swimming Pool 1. Must be at least sixteen years of age prior to appointment. 2. Must be in satisfactory medical condition as attested to by a physician. 3. Must have at least 20/40 vision in one eye, without corrective lenses.

Special Requirements

• Continuing possession of the appropriate grade, current, valid lifeguard certificate issued by the Nassau County Department of Health or the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums. 2. Continuing possession of a current, valid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certificate issued by the American Red Cross or a New York State Department of Health accepted equivalent certificate.
