Long Island University in Brooklyn is seeking a lifeguard to ensure the safety of patrons at its aquatic facility. You will maintain constant surveillance, respond to emergencies, and provide care until EMS arrival.

The role requires Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED; duties include maintaining a clean facility and delivering quality customer service.

Qualifications

• Current certifications in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED.
• Knowledge of lifeguard surveillance and rescue techniques.
• Leadership and public relations skills.
• Decision-making skills.

Responsabilités

• Ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
• Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
• Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job Description

Location: Long Island University, 1 University Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11201

Hours/Week: 5-17 hours per week

Prerequisite: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED

Minimum Qualifications

• Current certifications in the following:
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid

• An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
