Job summary

The Freeport Recreation Center is seeking a part-time lifeguard to supervise patrons and maintain water-safety across all pools. You will observe water activity, assist in rescues, and provide first aid under supervision.

Weekend and evening shifts are required, with progression through duty grades as you gain experience. Applicants must hold current lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications and be at least sixteen years old.

Qualifications

• Must be at least sixteen years of age prior to appointment.
• Must be in satisfactory medical condition as attested to by a physician.
• Must have at least 20/70 vision in one eye, corrected to 20/40.
• Must have at least 20/40 vision in one eye, without corrective lenses.

Special Requirements

• Continuing possession of the appropriate grade, current, valid lifeguard certificate issued by the Nassau County Department of Health or the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums.


• Continuing possession of a current, valid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certificate issued by the American Red Cross or a New York State Department of Health accepted equivalent certificate.

Miscellaneous Information

When applying please include copies of all current, valid lifeguarding certifications. Must be able to work weekends and evenings (until 9 PM).
