This job involves assisting in operating and maintaining municipal aquatic facilities, ensuring a safe environment for the public, and supporting senior staff with various tasks.

Essential Functions

1. Serve as a lifeguard and professional rescuer, maintaining safety for all users.
2. Enforce rules and regulations for guests and groups.
3. Inspect facilities daily and report unsafe conditions.
4. Assist patrons at the front desk with entry, registration, and customer service.
5. Perform basic maintenance and upkeep of aquatic facilities and equipment.
6. Maintain cleanliness and safety of aquatic sites.
7. Assist with administrative tasks such as logs and reports.
8. Participate in training sessions as required.
9. Work overtime or alternate hours as needed.
10. This position is considered Mission Critical.

Additional Functions

1. Serve as CPR instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, or swim lesson instructor as needed.
2. Attend monthly in-service training.
3. Perform rescue duties including CPR, First Aid, and advanced rescues.
4. Assist in program creation and delivery.
5. Help with special events and public relations activities.
6. Perform other related work to support aquatic operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one season or three months of lifeguard experience.

Special Requirements

• Current and valid American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within 45 days of employment.
• Water Safety Instructor certification required within six months.
• Must maintain valid contact information and driver's license.
• Pass physical, drug, background checks, and be available for all shifts.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledge of rescue methods and first aid standards.
• Ability to maintain physical fitness for lifeguarding and emergencies.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and cash handling.
• Ability to establish effective relationships and respond professionally in emergencies.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements

• Daily swimming and rescue practice.
• Moderate physical work involving lifting, bending, and environmental hazards.
• Normal visual, auditory, and sensory acuity required.
