Overview

• Position: Lifeguard I
• Location/Dept.: Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Philadelphia PA
• Availability: Immediate
• Schedule: Part-time Plus (up to 20 hours per week); Part-time (up to 19 hours per week); must be willing to work weekends and evenings
• Reporting Relationship: Aquatics Manager (AM), Aquatics Supervisor (AS)
• Salary Grade: $16.00
• Status: 73 Non-exempt

Responsibilities

1. Ensure the safe utilization of all aquatic areas by members and guests.
2. Provide superior customer service and oversight of aquatic areas.
3. Be flexible to support all areas of center operation.
4. Maintain a safe and positive environment in water park and swimming areas.
5. Supervise member and guest use of aquatic venues.
6. Demonstrate knowledge of safety and emergency procedures.
7. Participate in daily maintenance and emergency equipment checks.
8. Share knowledge of programs and services offered by all center areas.
9. Participate in staff meetings and training.
10. Maintain professionalism in interactions.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or enrolled in such a program.
• PA state lifeguard certification; ability to meet swimming requirements.
• Prior lifeguard experience preferred.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English communication.
• Ability to work well with people.
• Training in child abuse recognition and reporting as per PA Act 153, with proof of clearance.
• Understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
