Job Title: Lifeguard - Health & Fitness - PRN (7463-12724)

Location: Haywood Fitness Center

Job Description

The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining order by enforcing pool rules and regulations, rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning or other unsafe situations, and providing first aid and emergency care as needed. They also test water chemistry and maintain the cleanliness of the pool and pool area.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Certifications to include:
• American Red Cross CPR-AED for Lifeguards within 7 days of hire.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding within 7 days of hire.
• Physical Requirements:
• Maintain a high level of physical fitness. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 150 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Swimming Skills:
• Front crawl (Freestyle)
• Breast Stroke
• Any skill covered in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course

Swim Instructor Requirements

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross CPR certification required within one month of hire.
• Starfish Aquatics Institute Swim Instructor certification required within one month of hire.
• Proficiency in swimming skills covered in Swim Instructor training.
