Job summary

Indianapolis Public Schools is seeking a reliable Lifeguard to join our team. The part-time position ensures the safety of patrons in and around the pool area, enforces rules, and responds to emergencies with CPR and first aid when needed.

Flexible shifts range from 3 to 7 hours per day during the school year. The role requires current lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications and a minimum age of 16, with a strong emphasis on vigilance and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard Certification from a recognized agency (e.g., American Red Cross).
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
• Strong observation and communication skills.
• Ability to remain alert, focused, and calm in stressful situations.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Monitor swimming areas to maintain a safe environment for all patrons.
• Enforce all pool rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
• Recognize and respond quickly to emergencies using effective lifeguard techniques.
• Provide first aid, CPR, or other lifesaving measures as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in and around the pool area.
• Conduct regular safety checks of pool facilities and equipment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency procedures and rescue techniques.
