Job summary

YMCA of Central Ohio Lifeguard in Bellefontaine, OH is seeking a part-time team member to maintain pool safety, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies. The position offers $14 per hour, flexible hours, and benefits like a free family YMCA membership and paid lifeguard training.

No prior experience is required; applicants must be 15 years or older, and able to perform a 300-yard swim, 2-minute tread, and brick retrieval, plus pass background checks and skill assessments.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Maintain American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• Ability to work with a diverse population including children.
• Comfort in and around water.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must pass a pre-employment skill check.
• 300 Yard Swim.
• 2 minute water tread.
• Timed submerged brick retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Maintains safety and security of the pool and its patrons at all times.
• Rules are explained and enforced in a courteous, professional, and firm manner.
• Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately.
• Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants and other staff.
• Performs chemical testing, as required.
• Participates in emergency drills and in service to the level in which staff have been trained.
