Job summary

YMCA of Central Ohio Lifeguard is seeking reliable and friendly part-time staff to maintain safe swimming conditions and provide a positive, welcoming environment. You will monitor pool areas, enforce rules courteously, and respond to emergencies while promoting member safety and engagement.

No experience required; training provided. Earn paid lifeguard certification, free YMCA membership, and flexible hours while serving the community and gaining leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older
• Ability to maintain American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
• Ability to work with a diverse population including children
• Comfort in and around water
• Must pass a background check (18 years of age or older)
• Must pass a pre employment skill check
• 300 Yard Swim
• 2 minute water tread
• Timed submerged brick retrieval

Responsibilities

• Maintains safety and security of the pool and its patrons at all times
• Rules are explained and enforced in a courteous, professional, and firm manner.
• Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately.
• Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants and other staff.
• Performs chemical testing , as required.
• Participates in emergency drills and in service to the level in which staff have been trained.
