Job summary

Juneau Pools is hiring a Lifeguard for the Augustus Brown Pool team in Juneau. Under supervision, you will monitor swimmers, enforce rules, respond to emergencies, and provide care while keeping the facility clean.

Minimum qualifications include ARC Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, and being at least 15 years old. Typical hours span early mornings through evenings, with potential shifts at Dimond Park Aquatic Center.

Qualifications

• Certified as American Red Cross Lifeguard or the equivalent.
• First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Age of at least 15 at time of appointment, and eligible for a General Duties Work Permit if under 17.
• Note: Some positions may require WSI or other specialized certifications.

Responsibilities

• Keep the facility clean and assist with winter snow removal if needed.

Juneau Pools is seeking a Lifeguard to join our energetic Augustus Brown Pool team!

As a lifeguard at the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool, under general supervision, you will be responsible to for ensuring the safety and enjoyable experience for guests using the facility by, monitoring swimmers, enforcing rules, responding to emergencies, providing care in an emergency, and maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.

Applicants must also be a proficient swimmer and able to work well as part of a team of varying ages and experience levels and be able to handle high-paced and occasionally stressful situations.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION

This position will primarily work at the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool, but may also be asked to work at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center.

Our facilities are open to the public seven days a week from 5:00am-8:30 pm Monday-Friday and 9:00am-6:00 pm on weekends.

Typical Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position is, with a high degree of vigilance, to monitor swimmers and respond to situations where their safety may be compromised. This includes observing guests as they swim and monitoring their proficiency, maintaining a safe environment by enforcing rules, and providing care to guests who may become injured or encounter a physical ailment. During a typical rotation you may be on the pool deck for up to an hour.

Secondary responsibilities will include basic upkeep of the facility by maintaining a clean environment, which is free of trash and clutter, and during the winter you may be asked to participate in the removal of snow from the facilities entrance. You will also be responsible monitoring the safe operation aquatic attractions the safety of swimmers in the facility abiding safe operation rules.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

Certified as American Red Cross Lifeguard or the equivalent, and First Aid and CPR certificates.

Age:

At least 15 years of age

at time of appointment

Note:

Some positions may require WSI (Water Swimming Instructor) certification or other specialized certification in diving, scuba diving or kayaking as appropriate.
