Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time lifeguard for the PMC-Hampton Roads AC Kroc Community Center in Norfolk, VA. You will monitor pool activity, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for all members and guests.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and current lifeguard, first aid, and CPR certifications. The role offers flexible evenings and weekends with opportunities for growth within the center.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• American Red Cross First Aid (or equivalent).
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR Pro).
• Lifeguard Training or equivalent certifications may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Observe swimmers and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Enforce safety regulations and maintain a safe, clean pool environment.
• Report equipment defects, facility issues, and safety concerns.
• Maintain professional attitude and attend required staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Details: Job Location: PMC-Hampton Roads AC Kroc Community Center - NORFOLK, VA 23502, Salary Range: $13.00 - $13.50 Hourly, Job Category: Recreation, Schedule/Hours: Part-time, flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe swimmers and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Enforce safety regulations and maintain a safe, clean pool environment.
• Report equipment defects, facility issues, and safety concerns.
• Maintain professional attitude and attend required staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Must have the ability to swim with proficiency and endurance.
• Ability to tread water while holding a brick for 5 minutes.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Work involves exposure to pool chemicals, temperature changes, noise, and humidity.

• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications
