Job summary

Camden PSA Recreation Center in Kingsland, GA is seeking a Lifeguard to help keep swimmers safe at our aquatic facility. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, you will enforce rules, explain safety policies, monitor activity, and respond to emergencies with CPR/First Aid/AED ready.

Candidates must be High School level or above and hold lifeguard certification. Flexible shifts including days, evenings, weekends; part-time, hourly position with opportunities to gain hands-on

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification with CPR/First Aid/AED.
• Available to work varying shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience teaching swim lessons.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good judgment and sound decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing activities at an aquatic facility.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Aquatics Coordinator, the Lifeguard works to ensure the safety of visitors to our aquatic facility. The lifeguard will explain safety rules to patrons, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce policies.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

• Overseeing activities at an aquatic facility


• Assisting with swimming lessons


• Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of patrons


• Monitoring designated areas to recognize signs of danger


• Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations


• Maintaining order in swimming areas


• Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning


• Performing first aid procedures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid/AED Certification


• Must be available to work varying shifts which may include days, nights, weekends and holidays


• Demonstrated ability to teach swim lessons


• Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written form


• Exercises mature judgment and sound decision-making

Working Environment:

Duties are primarily performed at Aquatics Center during morning, afternoons, nights and weekends. This position works closely with others as well as independently.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires: the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; hand eye coordination; physical dexterity, and the ability to lift swimmers of various ages and sizes; must be able to lift 50 lbs or more.
