Lifeguard
Position Summary
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all guests and employees using the pool and surrounding aquatic areas. This position monitors pool activity, enforces safety rules, responds quickly and appropriately to emergencies, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor all pool and aquatic areas to ensure the safety of guests and employees.
- Enforce pool rules, safety policies, and facility procedures in a professional and consistent manner.
- Recognize potentially hazardous situations and take appropriate action to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Respond immediately to emergencies and provide first aid, CPR, AED assistance, and water rescue when necessary.
- Contact emergency services and notify management when appropriate.
- Conduct routine inspections of the pool and surrounding areas to identify safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate incident and safety reports as required.
- Keep the pool deck, furniture, and surrounding areas clean and orderly.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for the pool area.
- Provide excellent guest service and answer guest questions regarding pool rules and facility amenities.
- Maintain required lifeguard certifications and participate in regular safety training and drills.
- Report equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, and maintenance concerns to management promptly.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable health regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Current Lifeguard Certification required.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
- Previous lifeguarding or aquatic experience preferred.
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and focused for extended periods.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to swim and perform water rescues as required by lifeguard certification standards.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and remain attentive for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, and assist individuals during emergency situations.
- Ability to work indoors or outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations and perform physically demanding rescue procedures when necessary.
This position works primarily in and around an aquatic environment and may be exposed to water, humidity, chemicals, varying temperatures, and outdoor weather conditions.
