Kankakee Country Club in Kankakee, IL is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to supervise swimmers, provide first aid, and maintain pool areas for a hospitality-focused property. The role requires a minimum of two years lifeguarding experience and CPR/First Aid certification, plus water safety credentials.

Qualifications

• Two years lifeguard experience.
• CPR, First Aid and Water Safety certifications required.
• Knowledge of sanitation standards and applicable health codes.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure safety.
• Administers first aid to minor injuries of swimmers.
• Maintains amenities in changing rooms, bathrooms and showers.
• Organizes clinics and private swimming lessons as directed by the department manager.
• Enforces rules of conduct at all times.
• Performs pool maintenance, checks chemicals and vacuuming.
• Checks first aid supplies and reports needs to management promptly.
• Organizes and monitors pool games and suggests pool-side activities.
• Skims debris from surface and prepares pool for daily use.
• Cleans pool area at end of day and maintains records as required.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Compensation

$15 per hour

Key Responsibilities of the Lifeguard

• Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety
• Administers first aid to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers
• Maintains amenities in and cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms, and showers
• Assists in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by department manager
• Enforces the rules of conduct
• Performs pool maintenance to include checking chemicals and pool vacuuming
• Checks the first aid supplies and reports needed items to management in a timely fashion
• Organizes and monitors pool games at all times and suggests pool-side games
• Skims bugs and other debris from the surface to prepare the pool for daily use and empties the automatic skimmer
• Cleans up and organizes the pool area at the end of the day
• Maintains all necessary records determined by the department manager
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance

Minimum Qualifications for the Lifeguard

• Minimum of two (2) years of lifeguarding experience
• CPR, First Aid Certification, and various Water Safety/Instructor Certifications required

Other Qualifications

• Regular and reliable attendance
• Knowledge of accepted sanitation standards and applicable health codes
