Job summary

Bright Stars Academy is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to help create a safe and welcoming aquatic environment for children and families. You will supervise swimming activities, enforce rules, monitor lessons, and respond to emergencies with first aid or CPR when needed.

Qualifications

• Current lifeguard certification is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Red Cross CPR/AED certification.
• Prior lifeguard, swim instructor, or competitive swimmer experience preferred.
• Experience working with children is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and calmness in emergencies.
• Dependable with year-round availability.
• Available for 2–3 days per week during peak hours (weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturday mornings).
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for up to five hours.
• Background check clearance required.
• Applicants must be at least 16; those under 18 need working papers.

Responsibilities

• Supervise swimming activities and ensure safety of all participants.
• Enforce pool rules and safety procedures.
• Monitor participants during lessons and open pool times.
• Perform safety checks of pool, equipment, and deck.
• Respond to emergencies, provide first aid or CPR, and activate action plans.
• Communicate information with supervisors and coworkers.
• Foster positive relationships with staff, students, and families.
• Complete opening/closing procedures including basic pool maintenance and water testing.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Are you passionate about creating a safe and positive environment for children and families? We are seeking dependable and enthusiastic individuals to supervise swim activities, enforce pool safety rules, and help provide a fun and secure experience for everyone at Bright Stars Academy. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will monitor swimmers, respond appropriately to emergencies, complete regular safety checks, and help maintain a clean and organized facility.

Responsibilities

• Supervise swimming activities and ensure the safety of all participants and guests in and around the pool
• Enforce pool rules, facility policies, and established safety procedures
• Monitor participants during group lessons, individual lessons, and open pool activities
• Conduct safety checks of the pool, equipment, deck, and surrounding areas
• Respond promptly to emergency situations, administer first aid or CPR, and activate emergency action plans when necessary
• Communicate important information promptly and professionally with supervisors and coworkers
• Foster positive and supportive relationships with staff, students, and families
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized aquatic facility
• Complete opening and closing procedures as needed, including basic pool maintenance, water testing, and recording results
  
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Current lifeguard certification is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain Red Cross CPR/AED certification
• Prior experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, or competitive swimmer is preferred
• Prior experience working with children in any setting is a plus
• Strong communication skills with the ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations
• Positive, enthusiastic, outgoing, and willing to learn
• Dependable and available to work year-round
• Available to work a minimum of two to three days per week during peak hours, including weekday afternoons or evenings and Saturday mornings
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain standing for shifts lasting up to five hours
• Ability to successfully complete a background check
• Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Applicants under 18 must obtain working papers
