About Camp Whispering Cedars
Located in Dallas, TX, Camp Whispering Cedars offers sleepaway and day camp experiences for ages 8-14, with a variety of programming and a capacity to sleep approximately 120 people.

Lifeguards will work mid-May through the end of June or beginning of August.

Job Summary
The Outdoor Activities Team participates in summer camp and weekend camping activities, planning and implementing Girl Scout programs outdoors and ensuring participants’ health, safety, and security.

The Pool Lifeguard is responsible for supervising aquatic activities, maintaining safety standards, and providing a fun and secure environment in the pool area.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Serving as a lifeguard during summer and/or weekend camping.
  • Preparing and conducting aquatic activities following safety guidelines.
  • Participating in pool maintenance, rescue skills review, and safety training.
  • Conducting indoor activities during inclement weather when necessary.
  • Following all safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Being a role model and responding to hazards and emergencies appropriately.

Minimum Requirements

  • Respectful interaction with diverse staff and campers.
  • Active outdoor work in variable weather conditions.
  • Modeling respect, positivity, kindness, patience, honesty, inclusion, and emotional regulation.
  • Willingness to learn safety and hygiene standards, obtain food handler certification, and work full camp terms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with youth, camping, lifeguarding, and current Red Cross lifeguard certification preferred.

Must Abstain From

  • Use of tobacco, intoxicants, alcohol, illegal drugs, firearms, fireworks, harmful language, public displays of affection, and discussing private adult issues with campers.
  • Using cell phones on duty (allowed during breaks).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to speak, hear, handle objects, stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds. Valid driver’s license required. Vision and moderate noise level expected.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Completion of GSNETX “Protecting Our Girls” and CPR/AED First Aid training before contact with campers.
  • Recognition from ACA/GSNETX as a Pool Lifeguard.
