Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA is seeking a Lifeguard to watch over our pool and deck areas, ensuring safety and delivering great member service. You will follow 10-10 scanning, assist swimmers in distress, and support swim lessons and aquatic programs.

Must be 16+, pass YMCA swim tests, obtain a basic Lifeguard certification, and complete required trainings within 60 days of hire. Flexible schedule and benefits included.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance if over 18 years of age.
• Must pass YMCA swim test and an entry written test.
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of water and pool deck areas by 10-10 scanning.
• Assist swimmers in distress.
• Provide emergency medical assistance as trained to any person on the YMCA premises as necessary.
• Provide support to swim lessons and aquatic programs instructors.
• Take and record chemical readings set forth by branch.
• Know and operate pool equipment as required (e.g., lane lines, chair lift).
• Enforce and educate members about aquatic rules and procedures set forth by branch.
• Provide exceptional customer service and foster connections with members.
• Participate and satisfactorily complete in-service trainings.
