Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA is seeking a Lifeguard to maintain constant surveillance over pool areas and assist swimmers in distress. You will enforce safety rules, support swim lessons, and provide emergency medical assistance as trained.

You will also monitor chemical readings, operate pool equipment, ensure member safety, and deliver exceptional customer service while completing required trainings and certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and able to obtain a criminal record clearance if over 18.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; valid work permit if a minor may be required.
• Must complete YMCA swim test and pass entry written test.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of water and pool deck areas via 10-10 scanning.
• Assist swimmers in distress and provide emergency medical assistance as trained.
• Enforce aquatic rules and educate members, support swim lessons and programs.
• Take and record chemical readings; operate pool equipment as required.
• Provide exceptional customer service and participate in trainings.
