Job summary

The Shaw JCC in Akron, OH is seeking lifeguards to supervise swimmers and maintain a safe pool environment. You will follow American Red Cross safety guidelines, monitor activity, and respond promptly to emergencies or rule violations.

Responsibilities include checking water chemistry, inspecting the pool area before and after shifts, and keeping equipment clean and ready for use. Friendly, vigilant service is expected from all staff.

Qualifications

• American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equivalent.
• Pass a preliminary CPR and lifeguard swimming skills test.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $13.00 To $18.00 Hourly

The Shaw JCC in Akron is a community space where people come together to swim, work out, and spend time with their families. Our aquatics team plays a big role in that experience, and we’re looking to add lifeguards for the following shifts:

• Morning (opener) 5:45am - 11:00am
• Afternoons 11:00am - 4:00pm

Our lifeguards are friendly, attentive, and committed to creating a safe, positive environment for everyone who uses our pools.

As a lifeguard, you’ll spend your time watching over swimmers, staying alert and rescue-ready, and stepping in when help is needed. You’ll follow American Red Cross safety and emergency guidelines, enforce pool rules with care and professionalism, and provide first aid or rescues when necessary. You’ll also help keep the pool running smoothly by checking water chemistry, inspecting the pool area before and after shifts, and making sure equipment is clean, organized, and in good condition.
