Job summary

iRhythm Technologies, Inc. in San Francisco is seeking a Lifecycle Engineering Co-Op to support changes to electrical PCBA design, embedded firmware, and manufacturing tooling software for released medical devices.

You will work with a team of electrical, firmware, and software engineers to resolve field and factory issues, manage obsolescence, improve yield, and ensure regulatory compliance during the January–June 2027 assignment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering or related fields.
• Familiar with lab test equipment and comfortable being hands-on in a lab environment.
• Detail-oriented with excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• MS Office 365 tools knowledge.
• Ability to understand and modify scripts (Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, etc.).
• Familiarity with configuration and change control (Git, CI; ECR/ECO, traceability) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prototype and test electrical PCB components integrated with prototype product firmware and/or fixture software.
• Support software updates to manufacturing equipment & test systems to drive yield and reliability.
• Support embedded software development and updates, ensuring hardware compatibility and IEC 62304 compliance.
• Support execution of V&V activities including test plans, protocols, and reports.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, specs, test methods, and regulatory documents.
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and regulatory groups.
• Assist with failure analysis of production components and field returns.
• Contribute ideas for future product improvements or IP.
• Perform lab equipment setup/maintenance as necessary.
