Job summary

Life Skills School Teacher at the University of Texas at Austin's University Charter School system, Hope House Campus in Liberty Hill, TX. The role serves students with severe disabilities in a non-traditional residential setting and is year-round (194 days).

Expect duties to include implementing IEPs/504s, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Position is full-time, Exempt from FLSA, with competitive UT benefits and alignment to the UT Charter School system policies.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas Special Education EC-12 teaching certification and TEKS knowledge.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; fingerprinting required.
• Ability to work in a non-traditional school setting with students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and development of students.
• Plan and use instructional interventions and materials to add educational value.
• Implement curriculum standards and IEP/504 accommodations as stated.
• Establish open communication with administrators, staff, parents, and students.
• Manage student behavior per treatment plan and student handbook.
• Conduct ongoing assessment and use data to inform instruction.
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development.
