University of Texas at Austin’s University Charter School Life Skills Teacher position is located in Liberty Hill, Texas at the Hope House Campus—a residential treatment setting serving students with severe disabilities.

The role requires Texas Special Education EC-12 certification, TEKS knowledge, trauma-informed approaches, and strong collaboration with families and staff. Position is year-round with full benefits and potential renewal based on performance.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas Special Education EC-12 teaching certification.
• Knowledge of TEKS and TX curriculum standards.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with students with severe disabilities in a non-traditional setting.
• Proficiency in technology as required by the district.
• Bachelor's degree; fingerprinting required.
• Experience may be substituted with education/experience as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning for students’ development.
• Plan and implement instructional interventions and materials (ESL, GT, at‑risk).
• Follow curriculum standards and implement IEP and 504 accommodations.
• Maintain open communication with administration, staff, parents, and students.
• Manage student behavior per treatment plan and student handbook.
• Use data to inform instruction through ongoing assessment.
• Participate in faculty meetings and staff development.
