Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a Special Education Assistant for Life Skills Behavior (Galloway). You will support the instructional program and assist students with disabilities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.

Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, aiding in self-help and behavior management, and maintaining records. Prior experience preferred but not required; High School Diploma or GED required. On-site position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Willingness to work with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher with instructional needs and classroom materials.
• Adapt instruction to meet individual student medical, physical, and emotional needs.
• Maintain administrative records and prepare required reports under supervision.
• Assist with transferring and positioning students and helping with personal care as needed.
• Support behavior management and supervise students during various activities.
• Assist with small-group or individual motor skills development and exercises.
• Report special needs or problems to the teacher and participate in staff development.
