Job summary

Uintah School District is seeking a part-time Special Education Teacher Aide for the Life Skills classroom at Maeser Elementary. The role involves up to 29.5 hours per week, supporting a special education teacher with daily living and social skills instruction, supervision during transitions, and assistance with activities across the school day.

Requirements include a high school diploma (or equivalent), and either an AA degree or passing the Para-Pro Test (or willing to take it).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree, 48 college credits, or must have passed the Para-Pro Test or be willing to take it on hire.
• Experience working with at-risk children.
• Experience as a teaching assistant is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support to the lead teacher.
• Assists in teaching daily living, social, and self-help skills.
• Assists students with mobility and safety tasks, including lifting up to 45 pounds.
• Supervises students during class changes and field trips; aids in behavior management.
• Performs clerical tasks as directed by the teacher; supports in planning activities.
