Job summary

Tooele County School District seeks a Special Education Para Professional (Life Skills) to support certified staff in meeting instructional goals for students with special needs at Grantsville Junior High School.

You will assist with reading, math, and life skills, work in small groups, help with tests, and support classroom management while ensuring safety and inclusion for all students.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assists professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
• Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
• Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and keep students on task.
• Assists students in non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus, playground, study hall, and related duties.
• Accompanies students on field trips for supervision.
• Constructs, copies, distributes and uses educational materials as needed.
• Assists teacher with parent contact to foster involvement in student education.
• Helps students with special needs to maximize inclusion and achieve IEP objectives.
• Participates in IEP process as needed.
• Assists students with activities of daily living to maximize participation in school.
• Follows safety rules and supports students’ needs.
• Assists and guides students including lifeskills activities.
