Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to support a special education classroom in an Arkansas school. The role involves assisting the lead teacher with instructional activities, managing student behavior, and providing both academic and personal care support to students with disabilities.

Responsibilities include prepping instructional materials, aiding in documentation, and ensuring student safety during transfers and activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Some experience with children preferred.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the teacher in preparing instructional materials and displays.
• Assist with instructional program under supervision by adapting to each student’s needs.
• Maintain and prepare administrative records and required reports.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers to/from wheelchairs and positioning.
• Attend to students’ personal care, feeding, bathroom needs and hygiene.
• Help manage student behavior under supervision of the teacher.
• Work with individuals or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct exercises.
• Report to the teacher any special needs or problems of individual students.
• Assist assessment team by administering achievement and development tests.
• Supervise students during the day (lunch, bus, playground).
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and events as needed.
• Supervise students when teacher is temporarily absent.
• Perform other duties as assigned and SHARS duties as needed.
