Job summary

Frisco ISD seeks a paraeducator to assist in a Life Skills class for students with disabilities. You will support the teacher with instructional materials, manage routines, and help with personal care as needed.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree preferred; SBEC educational aide certification is needed. Some lifting and flexible behavior support may be required; 186 work days per year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; SBEC certification process to obtain Educational Aide Certification will be completed after hire.
• Associate degree or two years of higher education preferred.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities and follow instructions; communicate effectively; use standard office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Help the teacher prepare instructional materials.
• Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities (may involve lifting).
• Help manage behavior of students.
• Support students’ instructional needs per IEPs.
• Assist with personal care as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development.
