Job summary

Frisco ISD is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities in inclusive and special education settings. You will assist the teacher, prepare instructional materials, and help manage behavior while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, SBEC certification process for Educational Aide Certification, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. The role follows 186 work days per year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or two years of college preferred.
• Must complete SBEC certification process for Educational Aide Certification.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities (may require some lifting).
• Help manage behavior of students.
• Support students’ instructional needs per IEPs.
• Assist students with personal care as appropriate.
• Work with individual students or small groups.
• Supervise students inside and outside the classroom.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development and events as assigned.
• Fulfill all responsibilities and duties as assigned.
