Job summary

Resources for Human Development (RHD) in Philadelphia seeks a Life Skills Professional / Recovery Specialist for the New Start II program. You will provide direct supportive care in a residential setting, helping residents develop life skills and sustain recovery.

This role offers DailyPay, insurance, 401(k), PTO, and training opportunities. You will collaborate with nursing staff, lead groups, document shift notes, and support residents in daily activities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

What You'll Do

As a Life Skills Professional / Recovery Specialist, you will:

  • Provide direct supportive care to individuals in a residential treatment setting.
  • Assist residents in developing life skills that promote independence and long-term recovery.
  • Support daily household operations, including chores, cleanliness, and home maintenance activities.
  • Model and teach healthy living skills, meal planning, food preparation, and budgeting.
  • Monitor household safety and provide support during crisis situations when needed.
  • Facilitate and participate in educational groups, community meetings, recovery meetings, and recreational activities.
  • Support residents in meeting treatment goals and maintaining program accountability.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff regarding health, medication, and appointment-related needs.
  • Conduct program rounds, environmental safety checks, and fire drills.
  • Complete documentation including shift notes, logs, intake paperwork, and incident-related reports.
  • Escort residents to appointments, shopping trips, and community activities as appropriate.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment for all participants.

QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and web-based email systems
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience in substance abuse treatment, recovery support, or withdrawal management services
  • Personal recovery experience or relevant lived experience
  • Experience working in behavioral health or residential treatment settings
Schedule
  • Full-Time
  • 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM Shift
  • Awake shift position
  • Weekend and holiday availability may be required based on program needs
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, climb, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift
  • Ability to safely escort residents into the community and support daily program activities
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
