Carlton Center in Cypress, Texas is seeking a LIFE Skills Aide/Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. You will support teachers, assist students with disabilities, and help manage daily classroom operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred experience working with children, flexibility, and basic fitness to lift up to 50 pounds. The position is full-time, 187 days, with a salary around $21k per year plus an extra $3,000 annual stipend for LIFE Skills aides.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school graduation or GED
• Experience working with children preferred
• Flexible and able to adjust your daily routine
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude
• Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds
• Must have one of: 48 hours of college credits, OR Associates or higher degree, OR Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (70+)

Responsabilités

• Help teacher prepare and adapt instructional materials and classroom displays
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
• Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment, books and supplies
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
• Assist students with disabilities according to their needs
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care
• Help manage behavior of students and intervene in crisis situations
• Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills
• Help supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground duties
• Maintain confidentiality
• Participate in staff development and meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Regular and reliable attendance is essential
