Job summary

Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) is seeking an Aide/Paraprofessional for LIFE Skills at the high school level for Fall 2026-2027. Starting immediately, position includes 187 work days and a base salary of $21,739 plus a $3,000 annual LIFE Skills stipend.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent), experience with children, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. CFISD offers supportive staffing and a collaborative school environment.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Flexible and able to adjust your daily routine.
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
• Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Must have one of the following: a. 48 hours of college credits, OR b. Associates or higher degree, OR c. Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above).

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare and adapt instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment, books and supplies.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting and positioning.
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs and personal hygiene.
• Help manage behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.
• Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs.
• Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus and playground duty, and travel to on-the-job training.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• May drive bus to and from on the job training and other activities (high school LIFE Skills only).
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, principal or other school personnel supervisor.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
